Fáilte – The Journey

Dublin is one of the lucky capital cities that can boast a thriving urban environment and a scenic bay and coastline. As part of the ongoing Fáilte project we were asked to produce a series of work, under the working title of The Living Bay, that would highlight this connection to the sea and show visitors what Dublin has right on its doorstep.

Our answer was The Journey. This would first be a series of first person travelogues describing a day in each of our chosen locations around the bay; Malahide, Howth, Dun Laoghaire and Dalkey. These blog pieces would be accompanied by photographs showcasing the views and experiences. We wanted these to seem personal and unique so that potential visitors could put themselves in the shoes of our writer.

To accompany these we also produced a series of illustrated maps that detail points of interest, transport links and also show the distance of each location from the city centre. These maps are designed to be colourful and vibrant but also contain streets names and accurate positioning of each location so they could be used by potential visitors.

The Journey is designed to show how easy it is to access the beautiful Dublin coast during even a short trip here. It also helps uncover some of the unique and sometimes overlooked experiences that are available to visitors and locals alike.

You can read the articles here – Malahide, Howth, Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey.

You can also see a larger spread of work here.

Thanks to Kate Burke for her work on this project. Chloe Keogan was responsible for the photography and Alan Ruane produced the maps.
